Deinfluence my Birthday Wishlist
Hello my sweet readers,
I know I’ve been MIA and I’m sorry for that, but starting in August I’ll be posting here weekly again, just like I used to. Thanks for understanding :)
I know this is pretty trivial, but lately my mind has been running low on creativity. Still, I’m trying to reconnect with that side of myself. Trying to feel like me again.
In the meantime, let me tell you something, sweet reader… my birthday is on August 8. I almost never get gifts on my birthday, simply because I hate asking for things—even if deep down I’m dying to receive them. So my friends or family usually give me a gift card so I can buy myself something I like… but I end up saving it and never buying anything. I hate asking for things, even though I love love love receiving them.
That’s what’s been on my mind.
Blythe Dolls
Blythe dolls are pure magic. Big-headed, eye-changing, and full of personality. I’m obsessed with the customized ones, they’re tiny works of art. But let’s be real: they’re crazy expensive. Even the fake ones aren’t cheap. A custom fake Blythe can cost around $60 (and that’s not even counting shipping or extras). Still… I kind of want one.
Almodóvar Tote Bag
I’ve been wanting this tote bag for over eight months now. Almodóvar has slowly become one of my favorite directors if not the favorite. I already have a few totes that I use way too much, like the one I got at the art museum in Argentina. It’s time for a little change, and this new tote feels like the perfect start. :)
Record Player
There are so many out there. During my internship, I’ve noticed everyone at the office collects vinyl and it’s beautiful. I swear I’m always lucky at the thrift store; I find the best CDs and records every single time.
I feel more drawn to CDs they’re just easier to play wherever, whenever. And yes the audio is better. Still, I only own two vinyls right now, so maybe it’s a little ridiculous to want a record player already. But I really do love music, and part of me just wants one.
Is it the smartest thing to spend money on right now? Probably not.
Am I already talking myself out of it? Maybe.
Hehe. Anyway, here’s are a cute one I found.
Another film camera
I know I already have plenty, but at this point, I feel like I’m collecting them. Plus, my favorite one for traveling, which is lightweight (well, it was lightweight back in 1989) and takes incredible pics has been broken for over a 2 years now but still works in a way.
My favorite place to buy them is eBay. You know exactly what you’re looking for, you have time to research every detail about the camera, and it arrives right at your door. The downside? The prices can be crazy sometimes I see them for up to $800. Please.
At my favorite thrift store, Red White and Blue, I sometimes find cameras at reasonable prices, but you never really know if they’re in good condition. The sales clerks are always rushing you to decide whether to buy or not, and if you don’t know much about cameras, you might end up with something not so great.
There’s one camera I’ve wanted for three years now: the Olympus mju II. But it’s almost impossible to find. There was a boom where people were selling them for up to $500, and now they try to sell you the American version the Olympus mju II Epic Zoom… which isn’t the same, even if the name sounds similar. I could go into more detail about this, but I don’t want to bore you. I have also added some film rolls
Aquí van algunas cámaras que me encantan y que desearía tener en mi colección.
Film rolls
I usually shoot with Kodak Gold 400. It's my go-to. But lately I've been wanting to explore a little. Here are a few other film stocks I've been eyeing and would love to try:
The RealReal
I discovered this website a year ago, and I’m totally in love with it. Although I still think eBay (once again) is better for vintage designer, The RealReal definitely holds its own.
Here are some beautiful pieces I found and absolutely need!!!
These are the items I’m obsessed with on The RealReal
Louis Vuitton Papillon
Esta es mi cartera de ensueno, la papillon louis vuitton. Se llama papillon porque en frances significa mariposa y cuando la vez desde arriba esto parece esta cartera. es hermosa es espaciosa. no esta totalmente fuera de mi alcanze. Y quiero tenerla conmigo pronto pronto. Dejaron de hacer esta cartera en el 2006.
A handmade cake
Mi favorito es el de chocolate!!!!!
A poem just for me
Perfumes
This is hands down the best-smelling perfume I’ve ever bought and honestly, the most expensive one too. But I swear, I need the big bottle next time because it smells delicious. It makes me feel good every time I wear it, and people always notice (in the best way). With soft marshmallow notes, this gourmand scent is truly the yummiest of them all. I bought it back in October, and sadly, the travel size bottle is almost gone.
Littlest Pet Shop
I used to love Littlest Pet Shop. As a kid, I only ever had three of them, and I cherished them like tiny treasures. I’d make them little cardboard houses, brush their hair, pretend they had names and stories. I always wished for more.
Now I’ve seen they’re trending again just like all those cute trinkets from the 2000s. My inner child is screaming.
Pandora Charms
Most of the ones I own, I’ve bought for myself which is sweet in its own way, but I think the whole point of Pandora charms is to receive them from the people you love. Each one is supposed to carry a memory, a wish, a little piece of someone else’s heart.
Lately, I’ve seen so many cute ones: a tiny red cassette, the Leo zodiac sign, an H, a G (for my last name, of course), butterflies, a little whale — and you know I love whales — a ladybug, a clover… so many lovely little things. Maybe one day, someone that is not my mom will add to mine.
What I want most for my birthday
More than anything this year, I just want to feel loved, by my family, by my friends. I want to feel genuinely happy and at peace. I don’t want to be consumed by nostalgia or the weight of memories I can’t change.
Just a soft day. A warm hug. A moment where I feel like I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
I know this new year of my life will be amazing. I’m proud of myself for everything I’ve been through and everything I’ve overcome. I know I’m beautiful, intelligent, sweet, interesting, and fun. I know there’s still so much more to see and discover. People to love and hug, memories to create, delicious food to taste, cities to explore. Photos to take. Life to live.
And honestly… a sweet message from the people I love the most would mean the world.
Have a beautiful day sweet readers.
