Places I Want to Go in MIA
(and You’re Invited Too)
Whenever someone asks me “Where should we meet?” or “Where do you want to go?” I totally freeze. I usually end up saying, “You pick.” But lately, I’ve realized I do have places I want to go. I’ve just never taken the time to say them out loud. So here’s my little list of spots I’ve been quietly dreaming about. And I’d love to share it with you, dear reader. Who knows, maybe you'll come with me one day, some day.
ZeyZey
Live music, cocktails that look dangerously good, and honestly, the vibe just screams “come dance under the stars.” Matter of fact, Ximena Sariñana will be performing there on May 13. If you live under a rock or aren’t Latino like me, she’s an actress and singer all us indie kids grew up watching and listening to. So yeah, if anyone wants to come, you’re more than welcome.
Escucha su EP. Salió hace dos meses y solo tiene tres canciones. Son temas de la película que dirigió su padre, donde ella tambien actua.
Amar te duele.
Double Luck
This one's taken over the old New Schnitzel House (you’ll still see the old sign out front ). The owner is half Cuban, half Guatemalan, and that mix already has me curious. I’ve heard great things.
Tâm Tâm
From the same crew behind Double Luck. Vietnamese food. There’s a karaoke machine in the bathroom. I repeat: in the bathroom. Also, the wings are supposedly to die for.
Ashoka Indian Restaurant
Been craving Indian food with no one to go with. So maybe this is my open invitation? Not very fancy nor expensive.
Miami Slice
A pizza joint with a system: dine in? Talk to the host. Takeout? Get in line. They only take one order at a time. The drama of it all… there are playing hard to get.
Mister 01
Still on the pizza train. This one’s a local fave. And I’m on a mission to try every pizza that gets talked about with religious devotion.
Over Under
Can’t believe I’ve never been here. Feels like every fresa Latino in Miami has. Simple food, burgers, fries but the energy? Iconico querida, from what I’ve heard.

Lagniappe
Okay. Tell me this doesn’t sound like the perfect first date spot: wine, cheese, jazz, backyard fairy lights. The only downside? It’s hard to get a table. But maybe that’s what makes it even more romantic. I still want to go. I just feel like Miami needs more spots like this… cozy, a little messy, full of encanto.
I’m still chasing that feeling I got at Tres Monos or Rey de Copas. Sorry, but those were unforgettable nights for me.
Wait. I think I just got an idea for a new blog post.
So there it is my little list of places I want to explore. And if you ever catch me freezing when you ask where to go… just pick something from here.
Where do you want to go next if you are ever here in Miami?
